Covid-19 has been hard for us all, especially on the little ones who don't necessarily understand what's going on. Sitting at home without seeing friends can make everyone a little stir-crazy. Coming up with activities to do during this time can make someone feel nuts, to say the least. Here are five activities to do with kids while social distancing!

1. Sidewalk Chalk Hope Walk - before the rain is in full force, let's get the kids outside with some chalk! Being outside is mentally healthy for all involved and can help mentally heal and bring good spirits. Get out the chalk and creativity and write messages of hope for neighbors and friends! Highlight the people you love, add rainbows, hearts and anything your heart desires. Bring a smile to those who are out on a walk to escape isolation.

2. Neighborhood Geocaching - Let's find the treasure! Adventures are always fun.  Put together a neighborhood geocaching activity. First, you'll want to decide what the treasure is and where to hide it (think painted rocks or golfballs). Hide them around the neighborhood and local parks and when you hide them, make the location on your phone with GPS. Send the location to your friends and have them go on a hunt to find the item! Get others involved too, so there are multiple searching! Take pictures at each location when you find the items as proof! Think of a prize for someone who reaches all the pinned spots first. Adapt as needed for your location!.

3. Neighborhood Teddy Bear Hunt - it's HUNTING season, so let's get the kids involved too, without the need for a hunting license. Send a message to your local neighbors and friends and ask them to place a teddy bear in their front window of their home, or even their porch. Have them make sure the teddy bear is visible. Once everyone has placed their teddy bear out, take the kids for a walk around the neighborhood. Watch for all the teddy bears peeking out. Keep a tally of how many were spotted, or have the kids mark it on a map you've created or printed from google.

4. Frozen Cookie Dough Exchange - We are quickly approaching holiday season and what better way than to get some cookie dough though an exchange? Make a plan with your favorite friends and neighbors. Each family can deliver cookie dough to two families and they also receive cookie dough from two families. Get creative with your cookie dough recipe! Write a little note and wrap it up cute! Make it a ding dong ditch opportunity and leave it on the porch and RUN! Now you're ready to bake cookies with the kids by just pulling out the cookie dough from the freezer.

5. Shine a Blue Light for Medical Workers - Medical workers have been working nonstop during this time. Battling the virus is not an easy task. A great way to honor them is by replacing the regular porch light bulbs on the house with a blue light. This shows support and appreciation and a simple, yet meaningful way. Light is a universal message of hope. Turn it blue for the medical workers!
